I'm looking for opinions for the best external inline pump for aprox 1,200 gph that is quiet, cool running and hopefully - relatively low maintenance.

On that note, if you're interested, here is an email thread I had with customer service at Danner Mfg, who makes Mag pumps. I have owned Mag pumps for aprox 6 years and am using 4 right now and for the first time had some trouble. I was looking for help and was shocked at the last response I got from the company. Sure, I was pointing out what I felt was an excessive shipping fee - but I expect more than a short and completely unhelpful response from a company I have given so much business to.

So...just an FYI...

Check locally or on other websites for the part.

I really like Gorman Rupp pumps, they make a huge variety of industrial pumps, just look at their website! They have 3 (used to also have a model 510) for the aquarium market. I have 2, a 510 and 520. The 510 I used constantly for over 3 years before the impeller stripped a little bit while cleaning it, perhaps my fault. Parts like this are also available, although a little pricy, at Champion Lighting and Supply.

Curious response from the Mag Drive people, I would have thought different.

Maybe he was having a bad day? I sometimes hate e-mail. Its easy for me to screw up and come across wrong. And its written down. Just trying to help. Steve
