Pump question

Ok everyone i have a cpr bakpak skimmer with the maxi jet 1200 on it. I was going to buy a mag drive 350 and use this instead of the maxijet 1200. What do you guys think will i see a big difference with the mag drive? Are they quiet???

No! They are very loud and run hot. Great pumps, all most bullet proof but loud.

If quiet is your main concern, get an eheim.

The noise in the bacpak comes from the venturi and air not the pump

Magdrives do have a tendancy to buzz/make noise so if noise is an issue in that department, not sure if it will be worth the swap. I had a mag5 that got annoying sometimes unless I positioned it just right. Hissing from the venturi or airline is something you won't be able to get around regardless of what pump you use, but general pump noise, I'd stick with the maxijet or try the Eheim if Eheim has a pump rated for that skimmer that will run it properly

Im not fermiliar with the mag 350..... whats that compaird to the mag 7?

The dude at the lfs hooked the mag drive up to there system i may go back tomorrow and check and see how its pulling the junk out..

Make sure he is running with the venturi and airline so you can hear it.
