putting rocks into a tank

I have live rock in my tank but i don't have corals or fish yet. The question i want to ask is about sand stone. I have access to some really beautiful sand stone rocks that are ocean rocks. I am wondering the pros and cons of using rocks that are from the ocean already, but it would be bone dry.

I have been thinking about the fact that it might give off chemicals that might be harmful but how harmful and could it cure and be fine?

Im just asking if it would work not if it would recreate a perfect reef environment.

alright i have read a little bit about sandstone and well it seems not that great... any suggestions on what else i might be able to use other then sandstone that i might find in nature?
