yes thats what they are. the best way to get rid of them is to remove the clam about an hour after lights out and brush the shell with a toothbrush. do this 3x a week for a month(even if you do see any) then do it once a week for another 2 month. after that just check the clam every week for another month. also if you see any small clear jelly like masses on the shell be sure to remove them also they are the egg sacks

Thanks I love this clam but I havent seen a lot or any growth since I got it 7 months now. should I brush it out of water or in a bucket of tank water. I hope it will be ok. Thanks again for the info.
Scott:)

Thanks I just finished WOW lots maybe 100 came off. I returned it to the tank and I saw more crawl from the sand onto it.:( I have only I clam in the tank would that be there only food source? will they only lay eggs on the clam?
thanks
Scott

they usually lay there eggs on the clam, but i wouldn't rule out them laying them elsewhere close by. depending on the species of pyram they may also feed on other mollusc's so keep an eye on your snails also. the next time you clean the clam scoop out the sand from under the clam and through it out. you can also fill a Tupperware dish with sand and place the clam in it and every time you clean the clam discard the sand and refill it with clean sand

Thanks for the help. I will follow your advice. I now realize I have seen these snails for a long time in the tank. I hope I can save my clam as I have hundreds of these in my tank now:eek: I will scoop the sand next time.
thanks again :)
Scott
