hey guys!
i just got a pom pom xenia about two weeks ago. i know that sometimes they stop pulsing after being put into aquariums. mine hasn't stoped compleatly, but i do think that it has slowed down some. i read that xenia likes nutrients. the tank is new, only about three months old, could the pulsing be slowing down due to lack of nutrients? i was just wondering if anyone knew some secrets to keep them going and healthy.

Aly,

I'm not saying this piticular "Fix" would have anything to do with your Xenia's... but I have a friend who has a HUGE 'herd' of those pulsing Xenia's. He would pulse, but not as he liked. Someone, and he doesn't remember who or from where... told him that the Xenia may be sensitive to very low levels of electric current... and told him to install one of those titanium grounding probes into his sump/tank.

Well... he nows likes playing and showing off his tank. When I was there last, he just HAD to show me how he could control the pulsing of his Xenia's. Sure enough... he unplugged that grounding plug... and most of his Xenia stopped pulsing, or at least considerably slowed down their pulsing. Plugged it back in, and they were off to the races once again.

Just sumptin to consider.

check your pH...they seem to like the higher end of normal....like 8.3-8.5....
