Ok so I obviously know this guy is splitting. So now what do I do. I don't want this guy to croke on me. Any advice would help

If it is splitting, do nothing and do not try to feed right away, I never feed mine at all.

Do NOTHING! I can't stress that enough... only thing you should be doing is figuring out what caused it to split? Recent large water change, sudden change in water parameters, maybe it was just too large and felt the need (usually a good sign of a happy nem). Leave both the clone and mother nem alone... they might go into hiding but it is fine. Just be aware that there have been causes of either or both nems not surviving after a split although it is uncommon. Don't feed it or move it.

during the splitting period, there is no mouth, so agree with the no feeding comments...do nothing and let nature do its thing.
:)

not that i have current need to know, but this was very very good information to stick in the back of my head for when the need arises, thank you to all who responded,

Agreed - they split literally and then they split figuratively - they go hide on the darker, low flow areas so they can heal up. Just check them over a couple times per day to make sure they're ok, and then you'll be able to tell when they're ready to be the center of attention again, because they climb back up into the light and you can see how they've turned in on themselves and healed. Their mouths slowly make it back to the middle. You'll see a lot of branching tentacles as they multiply, too - it's really a neat thing to watch progress.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the advice, And all you calming my freak out moment :D when my lights are on I'll take a picture of their progress and post it.

Absolutely beautiful! Looks like they are both doing just fine. Normally if something was going to happen (a death) it would be pretty quick. Congrats on your new "family"! :whoo:

Just noticed you posted about your clown... be sure to monitor the nem's torn area so that the clown does not irritate it... that could be a cause of death.... just my opinion...

josh,

they look healthy to me...congrats....now since they have split once, there is a good chance they will split again...:D

Lookin' good! I have 4 in my tank now, and a pair of onyx percs - they bounce from one to the other like a couple of kids in a mattress store.

Mine was huge like that a year ago - took up about a whole end of the dang tank and I was all "When is this thing going to split?" :noidea: Then it split about a year ago, then Mother's day the mother of the original clone split again, then a few days ago the Mother's day clone split again... crazy nems. So now I have an 8-9 inch one (first clone), a 6-7 inch one (momma), a 4-5 inch one Mother's Day clone) and a 2-3 inch one (newest clone).
