I'm curious as to how often everyone recalibrates their monitors (pH, ORP and/or salinity) and refractometers?

I adjust my refractometer every couple of months. I clean my pH probe every couple of weeks and recalibrate every other month.

Not to kick-off a Scientific journal, but can anyone refer me to a resouce that explains hows the probes work?? I am very interested in the method behind the magic..

This was the only article I have and it is more about specific gravity with attention to hydrometers, but here it is: Specific Gravity: Oh How Complicated

I was all prepped to use RO/DI to calibrate my refractometer. The directions, however, indicate to use distilled water. What do you guys use to calibrate your refractometers, and do you pay attention to the temperature of the calibration fluid?

I use distilled water to calibrate my refractometer, and I try and keep the distilled @ room temp. I calibrate this every 2 months.
My ph monitors I calibrate at the same time to save on calibration fluid!

How about your TDS meter? I just got mine so I didn't cal. it yet. I think it was factory calibrated though, I see a stamp with the test results.

I calibrated my TDS meter when I first got it. The directions which came with the meter stated the meter only needed to be calibrated after every battery change. I havent needed to change the batteries yet so it has only been calibrated just the once.
