I'm looking for a recommendation for an automatic feeder for a nano tank. I want something that will not over feed (only have 2 fish and a shrimp) and is reliable if away from the tank for a few days.

I have the Eheim feeder. It is a really a nice little feeder. Totally adjustable so you can really tune it in. It can feed 1,2,3 or 4 times a day and everyday or every other day, however you need to set it.

If its once in a while i'd skip the feed and decrease the daylight lamps if no SPS. In my many decades of aquaria I never had livestock perish with missed feed of 4 days. Yet, have seen many crashed nanos that were overfed by a family house sitter. Besides you can build up the copod population for live foods that could get eaten before wasting away.

Aquanaut, great tip, I've always wondered what happens if you miss feeding for a few days. Heck every night my clown fish act like they are starved to death when it's feeding time lol!

Whenever I walk by my tank my fish act like they haven't been fed in days. In the morning, I am so surprised that they aren't floating on the surface because of starvation, they way they act. They act like they are starving right after I just fed them.
