red acro bugs

hey i just got a purple staghorn with red bugs and was going to treat it before puting it in my big tank and i started to wonder do red bugs die after a certin period of time without an acro to feed on or whille they still continue to thrive without an acro :?:

If you read through this thread (its lengthy), you will find some discussion about the life cycle. Eric Borneman, I believe, posted that after a few days, the bugs can't live without an acro host. Red Bugs - Inevitable?.
