Red bug??

At first I thought this was red bugs but after looking at several pics I'm pretty sure it's not. So that leaves me at what is it and how do I treat it.
I've had the cap for about 4-5 months. The growth was great during that time and then suddenly the growth areas started turning white. When I pulled it out to inspect it this is what I found. Ive soaked it in Pro-coral cure twice now and it doesn't seem to have any effect. That's a toothpick pointing to it.
Any help what be great.

Possibly a monti eating nudibranch?????? Red bugs don't mormally affect montis. Just my guess!!

Mike - I'd definately look hard for monti eating nudibranchs. I don't know what that is in the photo you posted, but I'll do some searching. Monti eating nudibranchs look like the images in these threads:

Thanks Nikki and Charlie. I'll inspect it again tomorrow. Most of the pics that I've seen of Nudis don't really match this. It has a smoother body. I was thinking maybe a flatworm, but I have no idea. What ever it is it's lasted thru 2 treatments of pro-coral cure at 1ml per 200ml of saltwater for 25 mins.
Any ideas other than an iodine dip.

I never thought about a bristleworm. Maybe I have something else going on.

fishermann I have always run phosban, nothing new to the tank.

kevinpo I will post a pic as soon as I get home. To me it looks like normal growth but pure white.

No lighting changes. I added ozone about a month ago. It's set for an ORP of 400. Runs into the skimmer and added carbon to the output of the skimmer. Thats about the only things new to the tank.

I lost some monti caps like that by running the phos reactor to high and was getting fine iron particles that had landed on them and killed them before I figured out what had happened, didn't hurt anything but the cap type corals where it could land and lay on. Sounds like that probably isn't an issue here.

Mike - did you notice a big change in your water clarity after you added the ozone?

john I'll check my flow thru the reactor when I get home. I know one time the sponge in there got cocked sideways and some of the media was dissolving.

Nikki I didn't really notice a big difference in water clarity. I have always run carbon so the water was pretty clear before the ozone.

looks like small bristleworms to me, i have seen many in my tank just like that
and i know at least some people consider this type good, not bad i think they're detrius (<-- however you spell this) eaters
