Does anyone have any idea on how to get rid of this stuff. I think it is red turf. It started off in a small patch and has now moved around the tank.

water peramiters

PH: 8.4
Nitrate: 10 (can't seem to get it lower)
Nitrite: 0
Ammo: 0
Phosphates: 0
Calcium: 460
Alk: 7 (i am bringing this up slowly)

Mybe if you can take the rock that its on out and use a hammer and screwdriver and knock the part off. See if that works. did the stuff come on your rock???

i have no idea where it came from! It has now made a home on almost every rock in my tank (small homes at least) so i don't think i'll be able to chisel it out.

anyone else???

I would recheck that PO4

That algae will hold on as long as there is fuel for the fire.

Phosphates and nitrates, just like lawn fertilizer.
In the mean time suck out ALL you can and keep on doing that until you can get that algae fuel out of there.

can ya get a better picture? looks like dragonsbreathe, a type of red algae. is it hairy or smooth?
