My new tank has no fish at this time. So with that being said what would you recommend for coral friendly fish. There will be an assortment of softies, sps, etc.

Looking for color!! Pics would be cool also.

clowns... they're fun and they'll host in some soft corals even, or tangs but i wouldn't add them first since they get territorial after a time

Here is a pic of my favorite, my Yasha Haze Shrimp Goby. He's small but really cool looking. It's a great relationship to observe between him and the Pistol Shrimp (lower left corner, not a very good pic). What size is your new tank? This goby is only like 3" so he'll fit in just about anything, but if you have a larger tank you'll have many more options. Sorry for the big pic.

Which type of star fish are you thinking of? I like the Linckia Sea Star but have been told they generally don't fare well in the aquarium and will starve. Have you thought about Tangs? If you haven't, you probably will :) Here are links to ones that I like;

I've always a Copper Band Butterfly. Apparently they are difficult to get on frozen food, but once they eat they are hardy.

A Coral Beauty Angelfish adds great color to my tank. They are generally considered 50/50 at being reef safe, but many people seem to have good luck with them as I have.

Then there are a ton of different types of Gobies, Blennies, and Clowns that you can add. You have a lot of options with the size of your tank. Post something you are interested in and we'll give you some feedback. Take it easy Jason.

starfish are really dependent on what else you want to keep. Serpent stars are great scavengers, but I found out the hard way they will eat urchins too. Other than that they were great fun.

Reef-safe fish: Yellow tang, Scopus tang, bi-color blenny, midas blenny, clowns. Beyond that you get into the "sort of reef safe" category.

mine nipped my clam mantles until I removed it, but many have great luck with them

That's why I said they are generally 50/50, same with Flame Angels. I was given a bi-colory Blenny because it was accussed of killing a clam, so you just never know what a fishes personality will be.
