So who has one, and if you do, could you bring it to the meeting so i can calibrate my swing-arm hydrometer. There is so much error and I would like to know that when i keep my tank at 1.025, it is not at 1.028. I'm sure other members would appreciate it as well. Otherwise, does any one know a LFS that has one and i can take my hydrometer there and calibrate it.

Thanks

or are you just talking about if your hydrometer reads 1.025 that it really is that and if not you can just auto-Calculate that difference?

I believe he means he wants to test for deviation in his hydrometer with and accurate refractometer and that way he can simply subtract the deviation when doing salinity tests at home.

Sorry, i did not clarify my earlier post. As mentioned, i would like to test a sample of water with an accurate refractometer and calculate the deviation from my hydrometer. I can then use that to get a more accurate reading salinity at home. Exactly like Warner mentioned at the last meeting. That would be great if you could bring one, I'm sure other members would be interested in the same thing.

thought I'd bring this up again. Hopefully we will have a bunch of people bring their hydromters. I have two I am going to bring. They both have different readings.

thanks again

mine was .02 off! I realized about a month ago that my salinity had been at 1.26-1.27 most of the time. I'm dialed in now though.

I didnt even wait to find out how far off my hydrometer was. I spent the $50 and bought myself a refractometer.

I figure, if I am going to put hundreds of dollars of livestock in my tank it doesn't make sense to use a $6 hydrometer.

Just my $.02
