Refugium Help

I just finish building a new sump, modeled after type F on Melevsreef.com with the intake on one end refugium on other end and return in the middle and want to set it up with a refugium, my question is what is the minimal amount of lighting, what type of lighting, and what is the best type of plants/algae? Any help would but appreciated.

Cheap and very effective.

Most people like to use Chaetomorpha because it is very cheap and easy to use.
