Refugium Mud

I was wondering if many people use the refugium mud. Seems to be readily available online and most of the reviews say it is of benefit. I was wondering about the practical application....is it worth the expense?

I put a 12lb bucket of fiji mud in my fuge 3 months ago and right now it's full of lil bugs and worms. The spaghetti algae is growing fine and have different types of algae starting to sprout. After putting it in had to wait a few hours before turning pump on due to very muddy water in fuge. Seems to be benificial but also a lil expensive. I paid around $60 at a lfs but a little cheaper on-line. Hope this helps.
