What is the best way to remove a clam from a rock? I would like to trade or sell the clams but don't want to let the rocks go with it. I didn't put the clams on the rock they came that way when I bought the set up. They are very happy where they are and don't want to move.

Thanks

It's fairly easy, if you're careful. Gently lean the clam to one side and use a razor blade to cut the byssal thread. Cut it as far away from the clam as possible. If you can't get a razor blade in there, use an exacto knife or a very sharp kitchen knife. Sometimes, you'll need to lean it the other way to cut the other side of it, but if possible, get it all cut in one clean slice.
