Hello

I have a five stage RO system but I can't get the TDS below 9. I was told
if I put a DI filter in stage three, I could knock that number down. Does this
make sense?

I hooked mine up and I got 24 ppm in and 0 out right away and it hasn't changed?
Thats odd?
It should clean if it's new??

Something is hooked up incorrectly..... start with the instructions and check all the routing.

I agree.

The DI stage is the LAST stage of an RO/DI system. It removes the remaining impurities that the RO membrane does not get.

Mouse:
24 out of the membrane sounds awfully high. I have a tds of 465 in to my RO unit, I get a tds of 4 out of the membranes and 0 out of the 2 DI cartridges.

oh I have the TDS on the main in from the tap and the out to the container sorry for the lack of details.
my tap water is only 124 ppm on the meter!!! sorry for the miss type!
