Rockscape question

OK, this may be kinda strange question but.....
Several years ago I went over to a fellow RF members house to buy some used equipent. He had the most incredible large sps tank in his living room with a floating hood and the sump in the garage. He had the most amazing aquascape I have ever seen, and i always thought if i got a big tank I would like to do something similar. He had a complete layer of rock that was basicaly suspended about 6 inches off the sand bed, and LOTS of branch rock, long winding pieces of branch, and what looked almost like a cathedral in the middle made out of this long branch. I am wondering if anyone else remembers him or his incredible tank, I havent seen him post in over a year. He lived on South Hill Puyallup, and I think his name was Sarang or something similar. Does anyone remember who I am talking about? Also, the hobby seems to have moved towards BRS reefsaver or Marcorock or similar and you dont see that type of long intricate branch rock anymore, I wonder where all that rock ended up?

Yes you are definitely talking about Sarangs tank. His screen name is Rosco. He pops in once in a while but he is still reefless last I talked to him. That rock he has is generaly known as Tonga Branch and it its difficult to find these days. There are other areas that this type of rock comes from but the Tonga variety/name seems the most popular. The exporting of this rock from the reefs in Tonga was halted a while back so what's in circulation is what's out there. Sarang sold his tank, rock, stand, canopy and equipment to another member here who also doesn't frequent here much. Its still kicking around though. Good luck on your search and you definitely have a tall order to mimic this former glory of a tank.

Yep that's Sarang...I haven't seen or heard from him since he sold the tank. He had a daughter which was one of the reasons he sold it. He had some really nice pieces and plenty of my frags from my old tank... Hope he's doing well...
