I'm looking at a new build, about 180g 4 foot quarter round tank. I can't find many examples of round fronted tanks to view and am looking for opinions on how these look as reef set-ups as far as distortion/magnification created by the round front.

pros and cons please and TIA!

con i can think of are algea scrapers on a round surface is no bueno. rachel had this problem on her wave tank.

well you really dont have much distortion issues. more viewing angles. but if you were to look across glass not straight in you will have distortion issues at the glass area not futher back. its not like you looking in the rounded side of a acrylic tank because it is all rounded so you don't have the corner affect. if you would like to do research the point defiance zoo and aquarium have rounded tanks so you can see what they look like. if you get there more of mid day then they have the tropical section open. but twords night it closes so the seahorses can sleep.

We have sone them, and they are really cool. The cost per gallon vs a nice cube or rectangle make people shy aray from them. The algae issue isn't really an issue, our maintence customers don't seen to have an issue. Jason
