Burning2nd,

I completely understand the desire to have an anemone in your tank, I've loved watching them for years. However, Anemone's are actually one of the hardest animals to keep alive in the hobby. They are very delicate, and wont take very much abuse. Most are in very bad shape before they even make it to the store. There was a stucy done by Joyce Wilkerson about anemone longevity. Only 1 in 6 survived more than 2 years in captivity. They just dont do well.

You REALLY NEED to do some research before trying anymore of them. I realize you probably feel that your saving sick or unhealthy animals from your LFS, however, you're also inadvertantly encouraging them to continue selling delicate, unhealthy animals every time you buy one.

Here are some links for you to do some reading on. Anemones are not critters to stick in an existing tank. You really need to build a system around their needs and go from their.

The Anemone FAQ. (PDF file, will take time to load.

These should help get you started.

well dood like i said in your other thread.... make sure you get it with a rock, may be pay some money to the guy to hold it for you and since you work there, put a rock so it attaches to it... once that's done, take it home... i know it sounds crazy but if the anemone is healthy it won't take to long.
Otherwise you're waisting your money.
If you don't want to do the rock thing that i'm telling you, then at least cover your powerheads because they like wondering around too.

the rta i was gonna get was in great condition, i fed it a few days ago.

(at the time) i didnt even know what it was.

my next one will be a small RTA

The anemone will wander whether or not its attached to a rock. The anemone will search for the best place to suit its needs, which may or may not coincide with where you want it to be in your tank.

BTW, its Rose Bubble Tip Anemone....RBTA for short....

yeah Nikki told me in his other thread :p, my only thought was so they don't go hurting the foot of the anemone when they try to get it out....that's all :p.

Here's ours.. we've had 6 splits in about two years.

If you're going to get a RBTA, look for local reefers who have sucessfully kept one, and had them split- pick up a clone. That way 1) you know it's used to living in an aquarium, and 2) you're not taking one from the wild.
