i would say no...i have both and i have never lost a snail to the starfish yet

The sand sifting star eats a lot of the "critters" that live in your sand. A lot of people are "against" sand sifting stars because they consume a lot of the beneficial life that keeps your sand bed alive. I think it just depends on what size tank you have and how deep your sand bed is.

Nope - had two stars for a year and they don't eat my snails... but my mantis does...:shock: :lol:
