I have a great lfs that is only open on the weekends....

this guys place is nice...
some times its looking a little beat down.. but i would think its hard to keep a store looking good all the time...

anyway im going to get a 5$ auto acclamator and maybe a frag if i see one i like..

since this dude is only open on the weekends it gets crazy in there sometimes... last week there must have bit about 100 people in there (im sure more then the max fire limit) but

anyway... does anyone else have a day that they go to the lfs to get things?
does your lfs guy know you by name or just face? does he cut you deals? whats up with your LFS?

Eric and Matt over at the Shark Reef are great guys and looks after our tanks as much as we do!

Love to visit and just look and chat with them -- best if I leave my wallet at home. :p

Thank goodness for lfs 's . To have a good one it seems it takes a special person. One with passion for the animals in their care and someone who knows how to run a business. I got the first part but way not the business part. I wonder if anyone makes money owning a saltwater fish store?

I don't know about making "alot" of money...but I would nearly sell my soul to be an owner or part owner of one.

(Anyone in Seattle area interested in partnering up? --- have a couple great locations in mind- ;) )

What wonderful job satisfaction.

i wounder the same 2....

i had a good talk with the Mrs of the LFS i call her "miss's Todd" but anyway she has a s2000, and todd (her husband) has a M3... so

ill leave it at that.... i offered her repair if needed... since i was a Honda Mechanic once a-pon a day.

and as far as owning your own....

I learned this way...

I use to love cars and be in to the hole street raceing thing.. but after haveing to make a liveing on something that i injoyed... i learned that its best to leave Hobie's and a way of makeng a liveing seperate

Back to your Origninal Question:

Yes, I also agree... Eric (Owner) and Matt (great helper) of The Shark Reef are both AWESOME... not only knowing me by sight, but name as well... and just that added personal touch pushes his store way over the top of the rest of the LFS's in my area, and even those that may be within driving distance of me! Of course, it doesn't hurt that he has SUPER prices every day on his corals and animals as well!!! Eric has always been extreamly open and honest, as well as willing to help me get in "special order" items... gotta Luv an owner that goes out of his way like that!!! :D :D :D

every saturday morning regardless of weather or anything I make my lfs run. I have gone to the store for years and they know me by name, know my tank and most of my fish have come from them. They are Houstons largest store and often have schools that come there to see the big tank. They have a 50,000g tank that is awesome to just sit and watch.

Good luck on your LFS Deb!
