Worried about poisoning my tank but want one to work on the sand bed, crabs and snails are not getting it done. 1 serpant sea star isn't doing any thing. Bl spotted gobbie isn't either.

Any thoughts or ideas?

try getting a sand sifting starfish and do you have the narassus (check spellin) snails there the ones that would be good for the sand bed and depending on ur tank size u need quite a few of them bad boys. and yeah cucumbers can posion ur tank if they die. thats why i got rid of mine and also i ran out of food for the poor guy.

A sand sifting star will eventually starve to death.
I have had good and bad luck with cukes. I have a black one that I have had for several years and he does a good job of cleaning the sand. The bad is I had a pink/black that got sucked into a pump intake and killed all my fish off a few years ago.

aw thats a bummer yeah i had a pink knobby but he wasnt going to good for a little while. but ive never heard of a sand sifter not having enough to eat. but i would just stay with the snails they move more and u can have more in there.
