I am looking for someone who is handy with acrylic or glass....maybe even just plastic. Anyway, I have no idea where to put this thread so I went with DIY as it will most likely be built by someone.

I need a filter sock holder...more specifically a dual sock holder for my sump I have a traditional 29g tank and want it to run front to back or the "Narrow" way. I would like it to kind hang off the sides with hangers or something kinda like a hang on doorway ironing board or something. But I am no expert and I do NOT want it to overflow the side of the tank if the sock starts overflowing.

So I figured I would ask for some help. I don't imagine this will be too difficult. Let me know what you can do, what you need dimension wise or whatever.....or if someone has an idea feel free to share it....
PS....anyone got a spare 46g tank sitting around? Truvue or anything?

Currently I am using breeder net frames to hold my socks up. You know...those plastic breeder net things you can buy....well I pulled the netting off a long time ago to make clip on frag racks and now they are filter sock holders.....

Yea they actually have those filter bag holder you can buy, I believe they have a 1 1/2 female threaded hole, so if you have a 1 1/2 male pipe adapter on your drain line they just screw right in. here is a picture of one

As per the set up, I think you want to do something close to what I did on my sump. I basically just built a simple acrylic box that slide on top of my sump, then drilled a coulpe of holes through the top for drain lines and use PVC fittings to connect the drain lines to the filter bag holder. Take a peek at the picture I put below you can kind of see them

hope it helps

Helps a lot Mojo....nice set up BTW. I think I have the same pitcher that I use for my tank. Do you have a more straight on pic?

What size sock is it? I had a sock, but since removed it. I used a peice of 4in pvc, it fit right in like it was ment to be. Most hardware stores sell short lengths or by the foot. Then I just drilled holes in the bottom and it servred as a bubble trap, never overflowed cause it sat on the bottom.

If that helps.

Great idea man. Wish I would have logged in a long time ago and seen this. Well I am holding out. A very generous member on here has offered to send me a sock holder. I am waiting to see how it works before entertaining other ideas. But I was thinking of something like the PVC idea that you just posted the6goat6man6
