They are both ugly. So if you have to use a couple of power heads which are the best? Say if ya point them at the front "glass/acrylic"???

Thanks for your input in advance?
I find that the maxijet 1200 is generating quite a bit of heat in my 55 gal..

Im using two seio 1100's on a controller in my 75 and love them, I did have three mj 900's on a wavemaker and it seemed like there was no water movement. As for heat I dont remember the mj's but the seios are always cool to the touch but thats not to say there not adding heat.

i had 3 mjs was crap flow might of been of with the hrdro flo but hard to get the right direction you want plus when i changed over to seios i drop 3 degress of heat and now i have changed over to the tunzr nano streams and love them if i had money for the best ones that go on timers i would have but 115 for base model was as much money i was going to put it to get pumps at the time being

Seio's are cool, but why not look into the Tunze nano streams? Not too badly priced, small and creats a nice wide flow pattern. In any event, if I were to choose between a maxijet or Seio, definately a Seio :)

Tunze are cool if you can afford them, but the seio's are supprisingly cheap if for what they do. You can also get that wide flow if you take the bottom of and turn them sidways...it seems like they pump way more that way.

good luck :)

I use many MJ's for sump top off, bucket to mix Salt in, Siphoning. For flow I'd bet the Seio's are very good from my reading about them. :)

What about the Koralia's ? I have a 4 version in my 75g and like it. Low power consumption, wide flow.

Now that is what I will investigate before replacing my maxi1200 and AquaClear (which runs rather cool temp. wise as far as I can tell). Perhaps I could get a seio or Koralia to replace the maxjet1200 that has been stopped up with chaeto for a week!!!! But it still gets hot:exclaim:

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

That's why it might be running hot... Pumps rely on the water to help cool them down. Pumps that have to work harder will generate more heat in the long run.

Seio's short term might be the way to go then? Where would be the best place to locate them? Just basic...top or bottom of the tank I have a very, very shallow sand bed....12 years old. We are talking very shallow with 1 year old live rock. Took the old stuff out it is drying in the sun. :)

Does it have to be white (ok dumb question, nevermind) Thanks for the answer. :)

like pouring coke on your car battery or what? hehe. I am in Orange Co. CA. Where is elk grove? I grew up on the east coast..... Silver Spring. My Dad passed but he always wanted a saltwater tank...He has been gone for about 20 years. I hope he can see my tank.

Deb, get off your butt, get you a Seo, & put some more corals in that tank:) Make him proud;)
You can have some nice corals in that tank that will color it up, you don't have to be scared to try them out, lots of softies & LPS would make your tank POP!
