I've been doing my water changes for 14 years and it hasn't hurt or affected my septic tank or drain field. Atleast no apparent problems.
What I use is a python drain and fill system, so when it is draining saltwater, it is also using freshwater at a higher rate.
I do about 90 gallons every two weeks on my 2 tanks.
For about approx. 6 years I did 165 gallons every 2 weeks on 4 tanks.

YEA my neighbor has a boa in her attic and she can't catch it. She is in a different area/building than I am.

I flush my water down the toilet or pour it down the sink when I do a water change:D

well it sounds like you need a bigger tank again!!!:D if you did 30g WC's every time, you wouldn't be able to flush it!!!:p

It can hurt your septic system if you do frequent water changes. I just found out this fall. I had to have a new leach field put in because the saltwater kills bacteria needed to break down the waste and in time kills your leach field. It cost me $5,800 to replace it. WOW, I Now know not to do that any more....

It makes sense that it would hurt the bacteria in a septic tank.

I'm kinda curious as to what people with septic systems are doing to dispose of large amounts of water change water, since it kills any vegetation in the area you dispose it as well.
