These little things that look alot like white sesame seeds, even the same size, show up over night. They have a hard outer shell and soft inside. They scrape right off the glass but i get 20-100 each night. Im assuming its some sort of egg. I haven't seen anyone laying them but whoever it is is picky about placement. Its only on the glass or one particular rock in the middle. They've been appearing for 3 weeks or so now. I've left the ones on the rock alone to see what happens. The oldest ones turn green and just sit there. Any ideas?

What kind of snails do you have in the tank? Nerite eggs resemble sesame seeds

Thanks! I looked up pics of them and they are almost identical. Should these be hatching at some point? I'd love to sell a bunch of snails but if i dont scrape them off they would cover the full 7ft of glass in about a month.

I'm not sure what the incubation period is for Nerites, but they may not have a high probability of survival. Here's a quote from Nerites: Bleeding Tooth, Zebras, Checkers, and More

Apparently the larval period and requirement for planktonic food limits the successful recruitment of nerite larvae. There may also be a special requirement that the egg capsules be exposed with the change of the tides, or rainfall and salinity change may be necessary for some species.

Could they be little tube worms? Do they look like little "swirls"? I get those all the time.

Nope, the pictures in the article Nikki posted look just like my spots and I just bought my nerites a few weeks before these appeared. Thanks for the help. If anyone has suggestions to raise them I am all ears.
