okay, i have a 50-tall with about 50-60 lbs of live rock, a bunch of corals such as: pulsing xenias, frogspawn, galaxy coral, torch coral, branch hammer, devils hand, mushrooms, bubble tip rose anemone, bubble coral, leather, some zoos......and i think that's it (but who knows!). i also have a clam (maxima), which i am not currently keeping in my tank due to pH issues. so...my question is...should i have more than 2-96 watt PC's on there? the only thing that concerns me is my clam. if i were to upgrade it would be replacing one of my 96 watt fixtures with a dual 96 watt fixture, bumping me up to 288 watts. i would really prefer not to upgrade, but if you think that i REALLY should, i am considering it.

Well from what i know inho a maxima needs alot of vho or prefferably metal halides croceas need intense metal halides a dersa or squamosa clam do better with less light :)

i'm not sure how tall a 50 tall is, but that is something to consider. the light from PCs doesn't penetrate as far through the water as light from halides. sounds like most of the livestock in your tank can do fine with the "medium" lighting that you have now, but the clam is questionable. maybe if it were placed (and i'm not recommending this) in the rockwork, up closer to the water surface. the anemone probably could stand a few more watts also.
