Some of my Zoos have small white spots on them. They seem to be just below the skin and the whole colony has been getting more over time. I tried a coral dip that didn't seem to help. I also tried to scrape a couple off, this didn't work either being they are under the skin and it I think I was doing more harm than good. The colony is deteriorating, only a few are opening now, HELP!!

I have included a couple pictures.

Anybody know what it is?

Thanks,
Tom

Hmmm... the image just isn't clear enough my friend (and may not be possible to make any reliable ID from image alone).

Do you have a very good magnifying glass, jeweler's loupe (or mesoscope :D)?

Before we recommend treatments, its good/necessary to at least narrow the best to a category.

Worst case scenario if you cannot see/ID the pest... frag the colony and give one small piece a test freshwater dip to see if the pest responds. Zoanthids are generally forgicing to such dips. Even just 30 seconds to start with (be sure to temperature adjust, aerate and buffer the dip water).

hmmm yeah it's to hard to tell what you got in there, but from what i read it looks like you got some type of fungus.
you said you tried a coral dip? you mean lugol's? do you have more zoos than these ones?
I think a fresh water dip to start it's a good idea and if that seems to not work, like Anthony said you might need to frag the colony and IF that doens't do it, you might have to use Tetracycline, but first do what Anthony says.

if you do decide its fungal/bacterial... the tetracycline (or synthetic like Maracyn II) is a good recommendation/choice with some success/track record. Very messy though (foamy)... dip buckets/QT tanks only please.
