What silicones can be used in an aquarium

GE Silicone. NOT GE Silicone II. II has mildewcides and such. Anything that's 100% Silicone is safe. Anything that's NOT 100% silicone is NOT safe. If it says 100% and mentions additives, it's not 100%. If it says 100% yet is not clear, or says "paintable" it's not 100%.

any ace hardware sell both types aquarium safe that is labeled for fish tanks and also the 100% GE silicone.

best to use... GE construction silicone you can get it at cr laurence if they let you buy it. i have a few dozen tubes. black part number is (scs1203). do a search on that you will find it on ebay and such if you are local to me i can sell ya a tube or so.

You can find it at any hardware store. Some will say not safe for aquariums. As long as it's 100% silicone with no additives, it's fine. One particular GE tube will say not aquarium safe, however it's totally safe. This is put on the label for proprietary reasons. GE makes silicone that's packaged as aquarium sealant. They make this for another company. The contract with the other company requires GE to put not safe for aquariums on their tubes. I used to manage a hardware store and was given this lil' tidbit personally by a GE chemist and sales rep.
