Ok guys about to cut into the tank, Well at least remove acrylic over flow. So in taking out the acrylic sheet I put over the bottom of the tank for support, I noticed a lot of clear silicone stuck to the jbj original silicone. How hard would it be to strip out all silicone, and re-silicone the tank. I've never done this. So any and all input is wanted

Its not hard at all, I ripped out all of mine and replaced it with my current setup. I also had never done it before and just ran with it and hoped for the best. All you need is a razor blade to start cutting away at the silicone and you have to make sure you get down to where the glass is beveled. Also once you start you need to go ahead and do it all. once you have it all pulled out make sure to clean it all up and that everything is pulled out. Replace it with 100% silicone. You can pick it up from Lowe's or home depot.

Be careful not to cut into the seam that bonds the two glass panels together.
I would also use RVT 103 or 108 silicone. The silicone at the box stores is marginal at best. Many if not all of the contain mildew-sides and are not safe for aquariums.

Ok so here's my problem guys, my clear silicone is stuck to the original black silicone, that seems the curved glass to the bottom paine.

Lol no that was me siliconing an acrylic sheet over the bottom paine to give some strength to the glass. Since I had about 40 lbs of lr, and 20 lbs of sand on it. That's what's stuck to the silicone jbj put on their tank

LOL josh. At least you were not trying to stop a leak. Is that the bead you want to remove??

Yeah. It's around the entire tank. And It's stuck to the black sealent that jbj used to seal the bottom paine to the curved glass.

Yea , you will have to remove it to get a good seal for the next bottom protector install. You will need to cut out the original jbj protective bead also so you are able to reseal the bottom pane properly. Make sure you clean the glass with acitone real good before you re-apply the protective bead. Get the RVT black silicone. You can order in on line thru Grainger.

Oh awesome I'll be posting pics. You worried me there for a min saying no. Thanks for the info on where to get the black silicone.
