Skimate

Is this good skimate for two weeks? It seems to take a long time to fill the collection cup all the way but if I empty it every few days it seems to make more.

AWESOME! What skimmer is it? What size tank? AND what bioload? Dose it smell foul?

It is a ETSS Reef Devil and the smell could make you gag. It use to not work very well but I haven't had to adjust anything in the last few months I was just wondering if that was not very much output. It's on a 90 gallon reef with 4 fish.

I guess that is fine. You could probably skim a little wetter if you wanted/needed. The reason it skims better when you empty it all the time is ecause a cleaner simmer neck will skim better,

looks great! I clean mine out every couple of 3-4 days and it would easily have that much after a coupel weeks. Akunochi is right about cleaning the cup adn neck to keep up skimming performance.

I get that much in the collection cup every day (granted, my collection cup is bigger and so it the tank)..... Its not as dark, but I also clean it every day.

Mostly, it depends on your bioload, if your growing unwanted algeas, and if your corals are colorful or just brown.

If algea isnt growing and your corals are colorful, you shouldnt worry too much about it.

So for my tank it seems like the skimmer is doing its job I'll just clean the skimmer neck more often. I have only been cleaning the skimmer when I empty the collection cup every few weeks.

Yea - it's tough to "rate" skimmate unless there is a bioload to measure it against. FWIW, I have a Euroreef 6-2 that produces about an inch of skimmate every 3 days...probably since I feed a bit heavy with my 160 gal.
