What would you suggest for a skimmer that could handle say the following system....

10x 10 gallon tank with heavy feeding.

3x 25 gallon mate tanks.

2x 75 gallon sumps

3x 300 gallon rubbermaid tubs

2x 125 gallon tanks

So a total system volume of 1475 gallons. Would it be smarter to just get multiple skimmers? I really don't want to spend a ton as this is not hobby costs but capital money.

damn.... thats alot of skimming....lol
well, if your looking for cost savings, i would get 2 or 3 of what would be considered large skimmers for the hobby,
like the SWC 300 cone skimmers:
SWC 300 Cone

otherwise, industrial skimmers start at like 4,000-5,000 for a gud one.
::SKIMZ::

the other thing you might want to look at is making your own mega skimmer with a massive manifold of air stones in the bottom of the skimmer, and industrial air pump.

Skimmy. I kinda figured getting 3 "smaller" ones would be the way to go. Do you have any good links for the MEGA SKIMMER lol.

lemme see if i can find a retailer that sells the skimz industrial skimmers for a price quote...
you might have to contact the main company, though.
oh and mojo's air stone powered skimmer is a massive home made skimmer that you should look at... i believe he saved himself mega bucks by buidling his own

I'll try to find the link to mojo's build. Thanks for the help so far. I don;t want to spend like 30K to find out there is no future in my plan...

Well I found Mojo's 2nd thread the revival, but it was obvious it was a revamp and not a from ground up build. Anyway...

What if I asked for a good, reasonably priced skimmer for 600 gallons?

I appreciate your input so far man.

So the SWC 300 cone? even though it is only rate at 500 on a light bioload? Not that I believe "ratings" much.

Thanks for all the help

Seth, there was a guy up north that was selling off his stuff. He had a very large skimmer body, minus the pumps for sale. His name on RF was khaosinc. Someone from the
North Sound Reefers Club may know what happened to it.
