hello everybody,

i sit and watch my tank for hours everyday and noticed my skunk cleaner shrimp behaving oddly. it appeared to be scavenging then grabbed a bristle worm, cut it up into little pieces and shoved each little bit into it's mouth. it's been doing this ever since. i googled for "cleaner shrimp eating bristle worm" and could not find any articles on this being a known cleaner shrimp behavior. i know coral banded shrimp feed on bristle worms regularly, but never heard of cleaner shrimp doing this until i saw it w/ my own eyes. anybody ever had this happen? is this normal or is my shrimp just tweaking out b/c it's not getting enough food?

My guess would be that it's just hungry. It can only pick over your fish so many times until they are sparkling clean. I've got two skunk cleaner dudes in my aquarium and they eat all sorts of stuff off of the rock; it's actually become a bit of a hassle when I'm target feeding the corals as I've got to feed the shrimp first.
