Snail making out with sand??? PICS NWS?

Hah... thats what it looks like. One of my snails is grouping bits of sand together by twirling it around in its arm kind of balling it up. I took pics. Im wondering if its laying eggs in it or what the heck it is doing. None of the other snails seem to be doing it. Am i paying entirely too much attention to this new tank or is it just me?

Anyone ever seen this before or know whats up? Its got my curiosity piqued.

not sure what type of snail it is. I got the entire tank setup from a guy who had been running it for over a year. He said he had bumble bee snails but i dont think thats one of them.

Yeah, really wierd. It is almost like he has something trapped in there and is using some kind of mucus to ball it up with sand. I don't know why I thought of that (LOL) It was the first thing that came into my mind. Knowing me, I'd grab him out and pull it off to see what it is or if he'll do it again.

Ben - I haven't seen that before, which doesn't mean it isn't normal. Can you take the snail out and take a pic. Show the shell, and the underside of the shell, so we can take a peek at the opening.

he ran away so im not sure which one he was. There are a bunch of the same type.

Do you want a pic of that specific one? If so too late sorry

Bumble snails are stripped are these ones?? Regardless all of that family are scavengers and will go after anything that makes a quick meal, looks like this one found something it likes.

I've seen snails do that before, but I have no idea why they do it. My Astrea and Mexican Turbos will sometimes do it when I place them on sand; but only for the first few inches. The sand globs up as they crawl over it.
