Today I noticed a couple of very tiny snails...to me they look like the kind that live in the sand. Anyway, I was told that snails will not reproduce in tanks. If that is true, where could these snais have come from?

Some species of snails will reproduce like crazy in a captive reef. Sometimes they will arrive as hitchhikers on liverock and sometimes they do indeed reproduce in your tank.

Have you seen any egg strands on the walls of your tank?

My tank at the mo has hundreds of them climbing the glass every night when the main lights go out and the moonlights take over. Have you noticed any clear egg cases near the top of your tank (they look like clear lentils)? Don't know if they are beneficial or not but they don't seem to be doing any harm at the moment and if they do start causing havoc I think it should be easy enough to reduce the numbers by just picking them off the glass.

Snails don't reproduce in tanks? Someone should have told my Margaritas and Trochus snails that:lol::lol::lol::
