Sock for mud refugium?

I'm setting up a tank w/ refugium that will drain into my sump then return pumps. Should I use a sock for the refugium input?

no, I would not use a sock, the more food the better for the fuge IMO..

I 3rd it as well, but mostly because I don't like pre-filter sponges, filter pads or filter socks at all. The reason why is if you don't stay on top of things and keep them clean, they can eventually act as biological filters and deplete water quality. Just my 2 cents...Good luck on the new setup
