Ok, my current stand is way to wide and i want to trim it down.

So, i have drawn up a rough tank design for my frag tank, fuge, and a fry tank. the trick i want to do is, enable all the water to flow thru 1 main system. I want to be able to set everything on 1 main plumbing system.

Which is where i need your help on the following:

1 frag tank:

A: is 130w 10k pc's gonna allow me proper lighting for lps, zoa's and sps frags?

B: How do I set the flow? I know sps's need high flow, so how do i design my flow?

C: substraight or pvc and eggcrate? if so how high should i place each?

2. Breeder Tank:

A: I want as little flow as possible, but still be set up with the main system

B: Lighting Needs? will be for True Perc's

C: Filtration, will i need different filtration with it being a breeder tank?

3. Amircle Fuge:

A: is up and currently running, just need to replumb it.

So, Sorry for the long read, but i need massive help here, I want to do this as accurate as possible, but with the current space allowed on the design.

TIA

1 frag tank:

I would think on a shallow tank this lighting would be fine for lps, zoos, and some SPS. Some SPS really are high light specimens woun't be satisfied with those lights.

B: How do I set the flow? I know sps's need high flow, so how do i design my flow?
If you are focusing on SPS I would let the flow crank up through the frag tank. You want as much flow as possible in the SPS area, but it should not be just laminar flow. You need some random, chaotic flows in there to ensure no detritus settles on the SPS colonies.

C: substraight or pvc and eggcrate? if so how high should i place each?
I would not put a substraight in a frag tank. I would go with eggcrate for simplicity and to make it easy to keep the tank free of detritus. Height would vary by specimen. SPS I would put just below the water surface.

2. Breeder Tank:

A: I want as little flow as possible, but still be set up with the main system
Just use a ball valve to limit flow into this area and allow the rest to flow into the fuge

B: Lighting Needs? will be for True Perc's
NO lights should be fine. Fish don't ask for much.

C: Filtration, will i need different filtration with it being a breeder tank?
I'm not much help here.

Good luck with the project.

Good responses, Reed.

Pyxis - are you looking for help with how to plumb all of these together?

Pyxis,
Is the show tank drilled? Are the rest of the tanks acrylic or glass?

What I would do is drain the main tank into the frag tank, allow that to flow from one end of the frag tank to the other end and then down to a 'T'. Ball valve off of one side of the T and that would allow you to regulate the flow into that breeder tank. Overflow water from the breeder to the fuge and return water to the main tank from the fuge. Just a rough cut, but I think it would work.

Reed you would'nt want surface skimmed water going directly to the frag tank. Should be cleaned first.
