I have a 36 gallon bowfront mainly Sps. Have been running a seaclone skimmer but is not cutting it. I would like to purchase a new hang on skimmer (have no sump). Any advice on a really efficient one that would be suitable for a 36 gallon
Thanks

I am running three smaller tanks - two thirty gallon tanks plus a 40-gallon breeder. All of them have SPS. I am running three different hang-on skimmers at the moment - a Bermuda Aquatics Rogue, a Deltec MCE600, and an AquaC Remora Pro.

My Remora Pro is a back-up to another Bermuda Aquatics Rogue that I have. I needed to clean the Rogue and have not gotten around to re-installing it. My Remora Pro is actually doing a pretty good job, but they can be hit-or miss.

I recommend the Bermuda Aquatics Rogue. They are a bit on the large side, but they do work well. My Deltec MCE600 is running on a tank with no fish, so the bioload is pretty low. Therefore, I have not yet witnessed what the MCE600 can do.

What is your budget? You may be able to find a deal on a used hang-on skimmer, too.

Mark (skimmerwhisperer) will have some good recomendations for you.

do you guys think it would work any good on a 55 gallon softie tank? Maybe looking to go lps with it and it has a pretty high bio-load. I want to do a sump but sister and mom wont let me.

Found a good deal on a CPR bak-pak 2 hopefully it does the trick. Might consider some mods. Thanks for all your input.

Wow. just modified the cpr bakpak 2 with an airstone. Can't believe the amount of skimmage I'm getting. Made me realize how bad the sea clone skimmers really are.

That's why in the reef circles they were dubbed "sea clowns":badgrin::razz:

I've ran nearly all the hot's out there and all the one's mentioned above. For a 55g i'd suggest the mc600, bermuda rogue, wm2, swc extreme hot, atb cone hot or the swc500i hot. All will handle that size of tank. The one's mentioned above like the bm are very nice but not for over a 30g tank. I've ran both models and do run the external model atm. You may be able to squeeze by with the eshopps larger hot if you have to spend less than 200bux.
