I have multiple starfish in my tank and can not identify them. They have approximately dime to nickle sized round bodies with long skinny arms. They are white with black stripes/spots. They never come out in the open (at least that I've seen) and always hang out under rocks. I've seen a couple while cleaning under rocks and see about 3-5 of them sticking their arms out from under my live rock.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Those are mini brittle stars....a good thing! They help keep the tank clean it also shows that your tank in maturating nicely. I have a zillion (yes...a zillion!) in my tank.

Need a pic, If the body itself is dime to nickle sized, they are larger than any tank breeder I am familiar with. If you mean total size, then they sound like the common tiny brittle stars found in many if not most reef tanks.

The bodies of them are dime to nickle sized without including the legs. With the legs they are approsimately 5" diameter. Is there a potential that these would prey on fish?
