so i noticed 1 of my kenya trees have 2 stowaways. athey are tiny so cant get a pic but they look like a tiny anemone with bright neon green tentacle tips. not the dull green ive seen aiptasia to be. i got the frag from eric and becca.

are they bad? what should i do let them grow bigger to identify or whats up?

dont really look like majano, well by the pics i seen of it and really dont look like aiptasia.it has neon green bulbous tips..

There are many, many different types of majano anemones, some with bulbous tentacles, some with pointy, some even with green tentacles and a brown disk. If you DO have majano, it would be a good idea to try to eradicate them from your tank. They can sting (though not as powerful as aiptasia) but they are most annoying because they split and multiply like CRAZY.

yep thats it so eradicate it even tho it looks kewl? kalk paste will do the job im shure.

Hehehe, you CAN eradicate it if you want. I actually had two in a tank once a while back, and I left them because I thought they were pretty. Got a lot of people point them out and tell me they were cool, too! But if you have a lot of coral, or plan to, it's a good idea to get rid of them, even if they do look nifty :)

If you can pull the rock or frag out of the tank, you can just pluck them off with a pair of tweezers. They dont set their foot like aiptasia does.
I have gotten them on frags of zoas and just plucked them off with my finger nails.

Honestly I have 2 majono in my tank and I leave them be. I think they are cool looking. The one things I hunt are the aptasia. Those I don't like. Someone told me they don't sting, or hold a stong pack to do damage. But I put money on they aptasia I killed killing my f8. Just saying. Maybe a vendetta? Lol

Sorry to have given you something that had a pest on it. If you want to bring it back thats fine. I did not realize they were on there and would never intentionally hand that stuff out even if it was free. As Lorrie says you can simply pluck them off or get a razor blade under the foot and pop it off. Do this outside the tank though so there if no chance of a little piece breaking away and reestablishing itself. I would definitely get rid of them before they multiply. We had a few in our old tank that we thought looked cool at first so we weren't all that worried but a year later their population exploded. Again I apologize.
