Strange Growth on LR

What are these white stringy/tube things growing on the LR. Also what is that white mucus looking thing?

Look like feather dusters to me...beneficial but if you don't like them get a cb butterfly. The white mucus thing is a sponge

Can they stay dormient for long periods of time? I also have these on my rocks but it looks like they are entrenched into the rocks and haven't moved in months.

They don't move around. If you don't see a feathery looking thing coming out of the tube, it's dead.
