I thought it would make for a very informative thread for members to post up any diagrams, plans, sketches, photos, etc they have of things related to the hobby that may be useful to someone else. As they say, "A picture is worth a thousand words!" It could be anything from a sketch of a sump layout design you came up with that someone else might be able to use all the way down to something like your own version of a durso standpipe that someone else may want to mimic. It could be anything! Just post the title of your diagram at the beginning of your post and if you like, you can explain your diagram. I'll start things off with my next post.

My Version of the Nitrogen Cycle​

Where D.O. = Dissolved Organics, NH3 = Ammonia, NO2 = Nitrite, NO3 = Nitrate, NH4 = Ammonium, SO4 = Sulfate, H2S = Hydrogen Sulfide. Oxic= Oxygenated, Hypoxic = Reduced oxygen, Anoxic = Depleted of oxygen, Anaerobic = Devoid of oxygen.

As you said a photo is worth a thousand words, But my diagrams are a bit sketchy. lol
This is a simple idea and solution to keeping rocks of the bottom of your tank.

Kirsh, That is a very detailed diagram. Are you not back to work yet? LOL

I will try to add some more here later. Even if you have a nice DIY you want to share you can post the pictures here like an ATO you made, a cool closed loop you designed or whatever!! I'm going to show a few Pics for the newer members who never saw it, how I chopped up an aquapod.

24 gal Aquapod DIY​

Wanted to hide all the pumps from sitting in the display area of my aquapod and wanted to change the background color as well as use lockline so I chopped up the aquapod, put in a new wall and plumbed in some maxijets from behind.

Backwall removed leaving a border to glue new background to




Brace added to firm it up a bit as well as white pvc board added to the bottom





New backwall installed with lockline





Maxijets mounted in back compartment. On top of these 3 mj1200's for flow, there were 2 more maxijets squeezed in there for the skimmer and the phosban reactor for a total of 5 maxijets fitting in this tight space. Eventually a tunze nano stream was added as well LOL

Really Dissecting an Aquapod​

So as you can see, I like to mess with stuff going by post #7 here. Well, I took that a step further. For those that have aquapods and wondered what else can be done with them check this out.

Here's the pvc board bottom and the backwall as well as part of the original frame for the old backwall totally removed






Here's all the silicone I removed!





I started to peel off that black backing off of the sides and the back to give more viewing area





Here's the whole thing removed





And here's what the tank looks like all bare...





And No...The bottom isn't tempered!!! Here it is drilled with bulkhead installed. I was going with a center overflow to plumb into a sump, but things got hectic for me and this was where I put down the hobby for a bit.

This diagram should NOT be used as drawn. If a switch is needed it should be in the same wire run to the relay common. This wire should be the black wire on the wall outlet. All switching should be done on the hot (black) not the neutral (white). If your looking at an outlet on the wall, there are two blade slots. The short one should be hot (black) the long one is neutral (white) provided the electrician was not dyslectic.
