Save the Date-

Barrier Reef's Summer BBQ Sale with special guest Mike Paletta will be Friday July 25th - Sunday July 27.

Friday night will be a presentation/dinner during which Mike Paletta will discuss the history of reef keeping along with some information from his recent experimentation with LED combined with halides. More info about tickets/location will follow.

Saturday will be the first day of our sale. Mike Paletta will be there to sign books and meet all you great people who make up our reefing community. We will have the BBQ fired up and off course the video game contest will be running for the kids.

Sunday will be the second day of the sale. Mike will not be in attendance on this day but we will still have free food and the video game contest. We will also have a new batch of livestock and with some special surprises.

More details will follow. Meet Michael Paletta below-

Michael S. Paletta is one of North America’s leading amateur saltwater aquarists. He has been involved in the design and setup of more than 60 marine aquariums, including the 4,500-gallon reef exhibit at the National Aquarium in Baltimore and a number of reef systems at the Pittsburgh Zoo Aquarium. He has a degree in biology, psychology, and chemistry from Dickinson College and holds a master’s degree in psycho-pharmacology from Yale University.

He is one of the authors of The New Marine Aquarium and he also authored Ultimate Marine Aquariums, which is one of my favorites.

He works in the field of biotechnology and lives with his family near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he has several marine systems, including a 1,200-gallon reef aquarium, a 300-gallon coral-propagation tank, and a 40-gallon "nano reef."
