So I know that it is a little early, but being in the military you learn to plan ahead. Summertime is coming up sooner then later. So what are some good ideas that can get us all together. Something that we can plan for a day. I have several ideas that I would like to toss out there. This is a group discussion so all inputs would be appreciated.

1. Tank tour POKER RUN - A saturday spent traveling from town to town. Getting the chance to take in the beautiful Northwest while driving from house to house meeting and greeting. Each destination gathering a card and at the final meeting place The person with the best hand wins. So as I was thinking about this, the thought of a prize came to mind. We could volunteer frags of some sort. You know that frag at the bottom of the tank just to the right, behind the rockwork that gets missed. You know the one I am talking about. But even if we got a few people to donate to the cause that could be a pretty cool frag pack. Or we could go with a few gift cards you know it doesn't have to be a cone skimmer, or a calcium reactor set up, or anything like that. It is the fun that goes behind it, that is the real reward. It could be a chance to get family out and about to see the parts of the state that are not normally visited.

2. Potluck - This is a great idea to get the family involved. Not necessarily reef related but a good way to get the better halves involved and introduced to other members better halves. So say it is a hot and sunny day in June, a BBQ at Jims creek with spaces reserved for optional camping if the mood fits. Again, I know that this is not really a typical offer for REEFERS but it is another way to get the family involved. I hear it all the time, "Can't make it because of the fam, or busy with the fam." This would be another pursuasive jester to get the family involved. Next thing you know we will be celebrating thanksgiving together.

If there are any other suggestions that we as a club can do please post them and get the ideas heard. The whole thought process behind this is to get as many of us involved as possible.

Why are there tumbleweeds rolling across my screen right now with that old western tune being whistled in the background.

i got a couple ideas....i would rather say in person rather then online, and be mocked at by others for my ideas lol

Hey Floyd, I'm in and what a great idea to get the other halves involed. Planning early for this type of activity is a must for successful turnout from non Reef Addicts so lets start the proccess now and maybe finalize by January's get together.
Also...you just had to go and one up Jeff and my NSR sigs.... so now you are our designated graphics guy and must distribute the banner to rest of club... I decree this
Daniel there is no reason not to air any idea no matter how insane, plus we need more comedic relief on this thread :p:lol:;)

Floyd - I like both your ideas. I think Jeff mentioned he wanted to have a Crochet tech session. :D

Floyd - Great way to jump in there Bud! I Like both ideas!

Maybe we can have a get together around one of the beaches and do a bit of cleanup!

DJ - Todd is right, feel free to post your ideas :)

The more participation in brain storming the better we can get. So no idea is a dumb idea. Might not necessarily get voted for but possibly combined with other events. I know that I can rent a dunk tank here on base for cheap, and I know a few guys that own bouncy house set ups. I also know the kingpin for Predetors of the heart. They put on an awesome show but can be a little expensive so I can see what kind of deal we can get.

Poker tour is a sick idea!

Maybe I'll have a big tank full of cycling algae that everyone could swing by and visit :D

We could also invite people "on the fence" that's thinking about spinning up a set up to push them over the edge.

Might sound corney, but maybe a trip down the the Seattle Aquarium? If anyone is in the "IN" with someone that works there, maybe we could get a "behind the scenes" tour of their tropical fish area :)

Ryan, I agree we need to get the word out. I know that there are quite a few people in the Oak Harbor area that have tanks. We need to find a way to get these guys involved. With approval from everyone else here on Noth End Reefers, I am going to generate a flyer that can be passed out with general information listing REEFFRONTIERS and The North End Reefers club page. I will be passing these out at the Island Pet Center once I get approval from Brian.

I'm in Floyd! I like the poker run idea for sure.
I think it is easy to get "interested parties" to go on a tank tour, it was the PSAS tour that finally pushed me over the edge.
