One of my dealers has sent me this report on synthetic salts mixes. Has anyone seen this, does it have any merit? He is always looking for the best products to sell and was wondering if this was something to look into. The study was done by an independent lab that supposedly has no affiliation with any manufacturers.

first of all, the scoring methodology is a total joke. many of the supposed "weighting criteria" overlap each other. i can't begin to list all the rules of science the writeup breaks. second of all, the report is older than dirt. i remember the fish store on roosevelt rolling that report out 6 or 7 years ago when i first got into salt water fish. i also remember having a conversation then about how old the report was at that time ! third, it was published by marine environments. the third party did the testing but not the weighting or judging of the mixes. finally, don't you find it suspicious that all major brands are at the bottom of the list and ones that aren't easily found are up top?

bogus i say, bogus...
