i have two yellow tangs in seperate tanks. one has a rounded dorsal fin and the other has a flat one. i assume one is male and one is female.anyone know which is which and would they coexist happily in a 75 gallon tank? ...the rounded one seems somewhat territorial.

as far as i know you are not able to tell the sexes apart. in the wild they are schooling fish. they have a hierarchy that they follow in these loose schools. the behavior you are seeing is why it is not recommended to have more than one of these in a tank unless it is very large. and even then they should be kept in a group of 6 or more. this is impractical unless for the largest tanks.

they do change shape as they get older, you may just have an older fish. the flatter fin shape is associated more with the older fish.
