Tank Cycle ?

If you let you tank cycle and do not do a water change, can the nitrite and phosphate levels start to creep up?

I had a heater crack and shock everythig in my system.

After everything died, I removed everything I could.

I then let the tank re-cycle. It has been 5-6 weeks.

I just checked Nitrate / Phosphate and they're still not zero.

Did I let it cycle too long?

Nitrates and phosphates will never naturally be removed from the water. They have to be removed by you. Whether it be with water changes, skimming or Macro Algae in a fuge. Do several large water changes. Make sure you're using RO/DI water.
