tank set up question

now once I have everything set up and start the wait for tank to cycle or settle do I want to do anything as far as feed all the little critters that are in there at least half of my live rock came from established systems and is full of micro serpant or brittle stars and tons of other critters that I have no idea what they are but they are everywhere. the other rock came from a tub at another members house that had it curing for around six weeks so to feed or not to feed

Feed. You have to keep a bioload on the tank in order for a cycle to begin and finish/

Take a piece of raw shrimp and drop it in the tank. That will feed the critters and as it begins to breakdown it will feed your bacteria. You don't even have to peel it. It can go in the tank skin and all, frozen or unfrozen.

Hint on the shrimp:

Put it in a piece of pantyhose and tie a knot in it. Then it will decomp, but you can easily fish it out at the end of your cycle...
