Tank Wiped Out

Sorry to hear that. Thank god I didnt buy that house in Woodinville just for that reason. You should seriously consider getting a nice generator and an large surplus of gasoline before the next go around. They say these storms are only supposed to get more sever in the years to come. I am going to get an old gas tank out of a suburban to sit beside the house. With a 40 gallon gas tank you can then go a minimum of four days without problems.

Thanks for the words....

I bought a generator last night, and picked up 10 gallons of fuel.

I should not have waited as long as I did, but i was "just sure the power was going to come on any minute."

Freshwater tank survived OK, only lost a few Australian rainbows. It's back on power now.

Cleaning out the 55 is going to be a real treat. I'm sure it's pretty much a sewer by now.

The sooner you start the cleanup the better. I know it's hard for you right now, believe me I've been there, but you don't want that awful "contaminated beach" smell in your house, not much more you can do about it right now.

That totally sucks! I feel for you. My power just came on last night but disturdedreefer came to my rescue! All my corals are now safely in his sump. I am just sorry there wasn't someone to bail you out:( :( :( :( :( :(

Man...I feel so bad for all you guys up there with no pwer:doubt: Wish I could send some stuff off of our reefs, but it's against the law. I wish you all a good rebound and hope this experience hasn't discouraged you all...

I just hate reading this and it is so very sad. We have those hurricanes and the high winds associated with them. So I know what you're going through, just know we're thinking about you.

I lost my seahorses but it would be really hard to justify a generator for a ten gallon tank. I also live in an apartment but I will definitely consider buying a Uniteruptable Power Supply in the future.

Oh, that really stinks! (no pun intended). If you need frags to restart your tank, I am sure lots of people here (including me) would give you some. Glad you got a generator now!

Thanks much for the support! Still no power, but the generator has been a lifesaver for the FW tank.

I set up a 10 gallon "rescue tank" just in case I saw any signs of life in the SW tank.Saved 4 Nassarius snails last night.

One thing that did amaze me though is the sheer number (>30) of bristle worms that were in my tank. Several were quite large (6-8").

Think I may convert to a nano tank. Anyone have any experience with the Current USA AquaPod Aquarium (12 gallon)?

Cheers,

Dan
